One of the things I had always wanted to do was implement a generic
form of persistence where quench events triggered event replay.

Of course there are a number of problems with this including:

 * you don't get quench change when a new subsumed subscription is added

 * existing clients will see the 'replayed' notif which would be
   'bad' for non-presence/coffeebiff-like protocols eg ticker
   [This was even part of my original desire for nested notifs back
    when DSTC lived in the Gehrmann Labs.]
